camping gearI can't believe my good luck in finding a new camping stove for our camping gear. It a nice backpacking stove, but we'll use it when we're car camping too, and maybe break it out at home when we need an extra burner. The stove I found puts out an amazing 11,000 BTUs of heat which is enough heat to boil nearly a quart of water in just four minutes. This is the Brunton Foldable Canister Backpack Stove with Piezo Ignition and it weighs just five ounces minus the gas canister. I may even use it at home this summer to cook on the patio when I don't feel like heating up the kitchen.

Normally I sequester our camping gear from our regular cooking equipment, but this little stove shows a lot of promise for the home and campground. I like the fact that it's built as a tripod so it will be incredibly stable and weighs so little. We live in Phoenix where the weather is incredibly hot, so on the hottest of days, I take the cooking outside so I don't add any extra heat to the house. When the sun shines on our house all day long and it's over 100 out, our air conditioner works hard to keep us comfortable and I don't want to make it work harder by cooking.

On really hot weekends we head for the mountains with our camping gear to enjoy the cool temperatures so I'm always looking for new camping gear that is high quality, light weight, and performs well. It looks like the camping stove I found at Paradigm Camping Gear located at http://www.paradigmcampinggear.com/ is just that. Since it folds down, it won't take up much space and I can even leave our propane stove burner at home or add it to the the pile of garage sale stuff in the garage. We love to take along small and lightweight camping gear because it makes loading and unloading so much easier.

We take off for the mountains late Friday afternoons and I fix sandwiches to bring along so we don't have to stop. We eat in the car and most of the time get to our favorite campground by 7 PM which gives us just enough daylight to get the tents set up and some of our camping gear unloaded. With the little Brunton canister stove, I'll be able to get breakfast going in the morning easily and it won't take long to fry up the bacon and eggs since this stove burns just as hot as the burners on the kitchen stove do. I may even go back to the Paradigm website to buy another one so we can cook on two burners on the patio or at the campground.
