The Deer Hunting season is here. |

The Deer Hunting season has arrived for the bow hunters of my state. From what I have been able to observe during my pre-season scouting the number of Whitetail deer I have been seeing should translate in a very successful Deer Hunting season not just for bow hunters but also rifle and muzzle loader Deer Hunting sportsmen and sportswomen. The rut appears to be about one to two weeks away and for those not familiar with Deer Hunting the "rut" is the breeding season for deer. During this breeding time the normally cautious older male deer or "bucks" go a bit crazy. This good news for hunters and bad news for the love struck trophy bucks. Many much more knowledgeable Deer Hunting sportsmen will tell you the rut is the best time to hunt for trophy bucks and I agree. A common mistake many deer hunters make is to only focus on the bucks during the rut while ignoring the doe's and this is why they rarely harvest a trophy buck. Think about it for a second---what is the reason the bucks are so "love struck?" The does! Hunt where the does are and the big boys will eventually show up.
